From the Wiki definition of SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING:
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the technique of improving website visibility via natural (unpaid) search results.
My definition:
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION involves all the strategies an individual takes to get your website to PAGE ONE OF YAHOO AND GOOGLE, against a PARTICULAR SET OF KEYWORDS AND PHRASES.
Notice I said YAHOO AND GOOGLE. If you focus on getting your website working with Google, which currently accounts for around 85% of searches, then the likes of Bing and Yahoo may also fall into place alongside: concentrate your efforts where you will exploit gains. More on this afterwards.
Also, the ‘particular pair of keywords’ phrase is essential. Just what audience are you aiming for? Just what message do you want to get around? Have you researched what search words to use? Is the audience okay with these search terms? Are they also niche? Or even not specific niche market enough and swarming together with the competition?
Very few people seem past page two of virtually any search results. It becomes worse: around 40% of the population clicks on the first research result.
But don’t hopelessness; there are strategies to follow to obtain there. My website provides all the steps necessary to get a site to the top of the search positions by focusing on what’s crucial – laying the footings if you like.

Look online, and you should find many, many ideas on SEO.
Many people make a lot of money espousing their views and opinions on the best ways to optimise your website and manipulate the various search engines.
A total industry has grown up simply to take care of this topic, with corporations being formed solely to raise a website’s ratings for a particular set of keywords.
Sufficient reason for anything that involves making money; you will discover companies who prey on and admittedly exploit people’s ignorance connected with SEO.
Sure, there are some corporations out there that provide a level of quality tools and services. But sometimes you need to draw the line; in addition to saying enough is enough; they have time to move on with playing and start earning some money!
My very own 90/10 rule
You can make by yourself cross-eyed researching and trying to help second-guess the current status connected with Google’s algorithms and weightings and constantly adjusting, not knowing if doing it is having almost any effect.
I believe in the 90/10 rule: you could put in 10% of your time to provide 90% of the results. You could then spend the remaining much of your valuable time studying thorough graphs, extrapolating Google general trends and scrutinising the latest rules to squeeze out this extra 10%, which may perhaps pay off.
If that’s your tote, then go for it. I want to relate to developing my website in addition to spending time with my wife and youngsters.

Information quality
Seeing that recently as 20 years ago, getting detailed information on a settled topic meant a trip to any local library or buying distinct books.
As a programmer, From buying books even in their early 90s on the subject of Microsoft Easy access when trying to learn this new plan. They would cost me more than £45 each. But I had no choice: the information I needed wasn’t freely available in some other form.
Did you know the first website was only online on 6th August 1991? And it wasn’t until the mid-90’s that the internet began to take off, and even then, the great majority of people were using sluggish dial-up connections (remember these?? ).
It’s hard to suppose that even in the early 90s, hardly any websites existed! Today look at how the internet provides exploded. 90% of US homes have internet access, making use of Macs, PCs, iPads and various mobile devices.
And then this resource, the World Wide Web, ultimately matured, and details were everywhere. In short, details became a cheap commodity.
Still, because it was now straightforward to obtain and anyone indeed could say and publish something, its ubiquitous nature made the quality of information not as good.
QUALITY KNOWLEDGE is now a lot more sought after than ever before.
So you must be careful how you interpret the new way of looking at information: it requires reading around the topic, getting sources you trust and filtering out the ‘quick-buck’ vendors until you build up a coherent pattern.
And A significant part of getting your site up there is to provide high-quality content. If you do, you will stand beside it, and Google will enjoy and like you all the better. And believe me, you need Google, Bing and Yahoo to like you if you want to be in pole position.
